My name is Payton Shoup, and I am a second-year undergraduate in the Hixson-Lied College of Fine and Performing Arts. I currently am a visual arts major with an education studies minor. As an artist I really enjoy the idea of imbalance. I don’t shoot for complexities, or realism and oftentimes there isn’t a moral to my pieces. Watching people interpret my work on a personal level is very gratifying and can create conversation in different depths. So in general I see my work as a hopeful re-interpretation or transformation on my behalf. The passing of events and the no place through which they pass, is what intrigues me and I enjoy showing that within my work.
