Unpacking my Anxiety is a personal project about anxiety and everyday items that bring me comfort. I use a metaphor of unpacking to describe the feeling of anxiety weighing on the mind and the theme of boxes and cardboard to fit with this metaphor. I constructed a large box as my main display piece so I could display my posters and title in a contained space and use my book as a centerpiece.
These are the posters I made. For each one, I included different objects that I mentioned in my book and incorporated the title and elements of the title in the backgrounds to make them feel cohesive.
These are all the pages of my book with the most content. This is where I talked about specific items, how they helped me and their story. Because I made the book first, this is where I decided on a lot of my stylistic choices. The font and grunge that I use in the background in the book and the posters is meant to capture the topic of anxiety as well as be reminiscent of the texture of cardboard.
Photos of the exhibit after I set everything up. I used five separate large pieces of cardboard and folded them and fit them together to make the box, which was held together with screws.
