Qloud is an emotional expression system designed for individuals with alexithymia—those who struggle to identify and articulate their emotions. Using weather as a metaphor, Qloud transforms intangible feelings into recognizable, wearable cloud characters. This project explores how visual and physical forms can offer gentle alternatives to verbal communication.
Through research into alexithymia and user insights, I developed six emotional archetypes: Joy, Anxiety, Anger, Numbness, Ambivalence, and Social Overload. Each character is based on a cloud shape and incorporates weather-related symbols—lightning, sun, volcanic smoke, and more—to form a visual language for emotion recognition and expression.
The final products take the form of custom Jibbitz-style charms, designed to fit onto Crocs footwear. With a consistent visual language and subtle but clear emotional cues, the charms balance functionality with expressive storytelling.
Qloud is not just an accessory—it’s a bridge between inner emotions and outer expression.
