MADISON GEIDEL

[BFA] painting option

Through creating my artwork, I explore the beauty, mystery, and tranquility I find in fish and oceanic themes. I am drawn to the essence that fish possess, and I emphasize their naturalistic features through the use of color in my paintings. My paintings have different types of backgrounds including flat color grids or fluid wood grain patterns that contrast with one another. The color grid emphasizes the fish and pattern, while the wood grain emphasizes the fish’s effortless and fluid movement in water. The ocean and water for me symbolize serenity, femininity, and spiritual blessings. I enjoy tapping into these themes in my artwork and aim to create a dreamlike experience for the viewer.
