Lilliana Baez-Leonard

Inspired by the usage of surrealism, the uncanny, and symbolism, my work involves creatures

called “Flowerheads”— a flora mixed with the facial characteristics of women. The Poppy is a

signature character that I dive back to often, as the poppy represents: sleep, death, resurrection,

and remembrance respectfully. Through many forms of media, I create the universe in which

these creatures flourish; and how these innocent beings can be twisted in ways that can

symbolize women’s issues in our world.
