Through mid-fire stoneware and special-fx glazes, I explore existential themes, using fragility and visual discomfort to reflect life’s complexities. The fractured, shifting, and expanded glaze surfaces mirror the ever-changing and unpredictable nature of existence. Clay, my primary medium, connects me deeply to the work, grounding me in the creative process while inviting viewer engagement. Meanwhile, the clay’s rock-like surface represents resistance to change, symbolizing the tension between the constant societal push to evolve and the desire to remain fixed. The contrast between the medium and surface embodies the delicate balance between growth and stagnation.
