Kintsugi (金継ぎ) is a Japanese art form that appreciates the beauty of brokenness and embraces flaws rather than concealing them. My first three pieces touch on this ideology, telling a story of inner feelings relating to belonging and the push to feel whole once more. For these pieces, black paper was cut using an X-acto knife to reveal the images. Alongside these pieces, I have charcoal studies, one of my favorite mediums to create with.
