This project began as a way to explore how design can support real-world research environments. Storm chasing has always interested me, especially the mix of science, danger, and documentation. Creating VOTRA gave me the chance to design something that feels purposeful, functional, and grounded in the reality of how chasers move through severe weather.

Introducing the WX-1 (Weather Extreme 1) is equipped with a reinforced exterior to handle intense winds, flying debris, and rough terrain without sacrificing stability. The roof-mounted 360-degree weather dome supports sensors, radar, and high-resolution cameras, giving the team a full view of developing storm features while collecting precise atmospheric data. Inside, the WX-1 operates as a full mobile command center. The dashboard and interior displays provide live radar imaging, localized weather readouts, GPS mapping, and real-time storm tracking. Every part of the interior is designed to reduce distraction and keep the team focused as they monitor storm behavior, record data, and plan safe chase routes.

The brand identity centers on a tornado-shaped logo that uses negative space to form a lightning bolt. This design choice reflects the balance between raw atmospheric power and precise scientific observation. It gives VOTRA a visual mark that feels energetic, recognizable, and directly tied to the environment the vehicle was created for.
