UNCHARTED ENTITY

UNCHARTED ENTITY visualizes the intangible complex negative emotions humans
carry. Negative emotions are things that keep us from functioning in our everyday lives, this
includes our personal traumas, disorders, or unfortunate happenings that burden us with their
weight and pain. These emotions are familiar to many people. Through heavy sharp abstract
forms, I construct what these feelings would look like in physical form from my perspective.
The stark black and spikey nature of the sculpture triggers ideas of pain and hurting. In
suspending this sculpture, I create a space where people can confront and observe the build of
the piece in the round to contemplate the enigmatic energy that surrounds it. Furthermore, with
the energy of UNCHARTED ENTITY it alleviates suffering through confrontation of the negative
self. The size of UNCHARTED ENTITY mirrors the size of a body ultimately creating tension
between a human body to this heavy and abrasive object. By viewing and confronting
UNCHARTED ENTITY , one is able to succumb and embrace the nature of such heavy and
destructive emotions through the actualization of them in real space. In other words, reflecting
and confronting the self, through comparison of abstract forms, activates a visceral effect that
grounds and connects our bodies with our inner emotions.
