[BA] Studio Art – Painting and Drawing

[Minor] Japanese

In my work, I aim to capture aspects of a person through unconventional perspectives. Using digital media, I render portraits that place emphasis on the sitter’s hair. I complement the portraits with detailed views that focus on accessories people put in their hair such as bobby pins and hair ties. In both instances a formal beauty is revealed through careful attention to each subject and composition. I use people in my life as the models for my work and aim to imbue hair styles with life and personality as well as show care through intimate rendering.
