[BFA] Studio Art – Printmaking

My prints contrast the University of Nebraska-Lincoln’s high-profile and generously supported athletic department with its lesser-known School of Art, Art History, & Design to call attention to the differences in funding. This body of work releases the frustration and despair of being an art student in old buildings with aging equipment in the shadow of a glorified football stadium and training facilities where the funding feels endless. This work not only reveals the disparities in equipment, facilities, and audiences but also incorporates the UNL tagline “In our grit, our glory” as a reference to the black silicon carbide, known as carborundum grit, that is used to remove drawings from lithography stones when the edition of prints is finished. I’m interested in addressing inequities across society through my work.
