I am a creator first and foremost. I find many interests in popular culture because of its chokehold on society, my paintings try to bridge the gaps between different interests of my own and create new narratives that may evoke an emotional response. Whether that is positive or negative doesn’t really matter, I really am most interested in creating a response from the viewer. Creating something that stains the memory of the viewer is much more valuable to me than almost anything at all.
Nick Barber grew up in Crete, Nebraska roughly thirty minutes south of Lincoln. He found interest in art from an early age but started his undergrad in architecture. After only a year he made the switch to pursue a BFA with an emphasis in Painting. Since then, Nick has been exploring with multiple mediums and found objects all revolving around painting.
