I create large scale installations that envelop one’s body, exploring how reflections and shadows can distort reality. My creations are based on observations of fractals found in nature. I see fractals in everything, whether in the veins of leaves, grooves of tree bark, shapes created by branches against the sky, or light and shadow casting onto the ground. I see fractals as the root of all life. In an attempt to recreate these luminous shapes, I pair fractured mirrors with controlled lighting. The resulting installation multiplies itself around the room, since mirrors reflect all light. My intention is to create a sensation of otherworldliness. I believe that we, as humans, are most present when experiencing something new. My goal is for the viewers to leave their mental preoccupations, at least for a moment, and be encompassed in my creation. This particular installation explores both natural and dramatic lighting.
