Caitlin Hoppe
[BFA] Painting
My work explores images that are reflections of our own world’s past and vision of what the future could be. I create works on paper of uncanny inventive landscapes using ink, watercolor and gouache. As a kid growing up, I was captivated by Morrill Hall, The Natural History Museum, for the vast collection of prehistoric fossils, plants and dioramas of animal life.
From the colorful landscapes of Lisa Frank to the graphic landscapes of Joshua Marsh, my work ranges from dark to whimsical to lush in nature with rocky terrain, and sometimes with the addition of creatures, bogs, marshes, valleys, coastlines, and an underwater world.
